From The Garden To The City

This is a full scale Christian musical and is approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes in length., complete with music and dialogue.

The musical was written back in late 2004 and early 2005 as a total concept musical, complete with dialogue between many tracks. However, due to a number of reasons, it was not made avialable until 2012 for actual release.

This musical is about the walk of a person through life, based on the story of The Bible. It starts with the expulsion of man, by God (by virtue of our heritage), from the Garden of Eden, through to that point of entering the gates of the New Jerusalem as a result of salvation.

The musical looks at the various trials, rewards, guidance and encouragements we receive along the way and relating these events to Biblical events and characters (historical association of themes). Some of these use direct characters and their situations, whilst others use modern characters that portray the same experience.

Of course, at one point, there is salvation through the Cross of Christ. This song, in Part 1 of the musical, is the highlight of the musical. This song is an encounter with the living Christ, similar to Zaccheus, but as an event AFTER the cross, so as to make it relevant to today.

The idea of the musical is to take relevant Biblical characters and events and place them in a modern setting that portrays a picture that modern people would understand.

The musical is also different in another way. It has been written as 6 mini musicals that are capable of standing on their own for special presentations and yet, sequential enough that all 6 parts can be used together to present the complete musical.

This release should be classified as a full scale demonstration release of the musical, to allow producers and directors a chance to see what the musical is actually like. The sampling aspect allows you to only listen to the actual songs of the musical. The downloads (which is two files, one for each major part of the musical) not only contain the songs but they contain the dialogue that belongs between the tracks, an intergral part of the overall musical. Clicking on the songs in each of the six sections will allow you to listen to the individual music tracks. The dialogoe that goes between songs is not accessible except by downloading the zipped files.

SECTION 1 - PART 1- BEGINNING

This group sets the scene for the whole musical. It says where we went wrong and who the answer is to the problem. It introduces the idea that all must walk the path of life, no matter who we are, and that, at sometime, we need an encounter with Jesus in our life.

SECTION 1 - PART 2 - IN GOD'S SERVICE

This section deals with the aspects of serving God and some of the issues related to this. The action centres around a "church meeting", taking us through some possible action that could be related to this aspect of our lives.

SECTION 1 - PART 3 - THE LAW

Too often we are so pre-occupied with keeping the letter of the law that we lose sight of what it is really all about - the spirit of the law, and what God really wants from us. This can actually turn people away from God and not encourage them into kingdom.

SECTION 2 - PART 4 - THE TIME TO CHOOSE

This section is about those who exercise their freedom of choice. Some go against God's will. Others choose God's path and learn the cost. Some people can't accept the cost, whilst others have to pay the price. Most people are placed in a position where they have to make a choice at some time in their life.

SECTION 2 - PART 5 - RETURN FROM EXILE

Often we walk away from God and He needs to take us through stages to bring us back. This part highlights that, no matter how far we might wander away from God (deliberately or unintentionally), He is still there when we cry out to Him.

SECTION 2 - PART 6 - FINALE

Brings the journey to a close and onto the heavenly prize for those who have chosen God's way. Even at the last minute, however, salvation is still available.

There is dialogue between most tracks but not all.
